Naruto Movie Update: Meet the Director Behind the Epic Live-Action Vision

💥💥 Naruto, one of the most popular mangas of all time, is headed to the big screen  !

  •  Lionsgate is developing a live-action Naruto film starring Destin from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The studio revealed today that Daniel Cretton has been chosen to write and direct.

  • Masashi Kishimoto, the man behind the franchise, who will assist in directing the picture, has already met with Cretton. The Naruto movie will be produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions. In addition, Cretton and Jeyun Munford's company, Hisako, will produce.

  • In the release, Cretton stated, "Meeting Kishimoto-san in Tokyo and hearing his expansive vision for his creation was a true honor." "We can't wait to work together to bring NARUTO to the big screen."

  • Naruto has been regarded as one of the  'Big Three' of anime for a long time, having produced a number of animated films, television shows, and video games. In the previous few decades, its manga alone has sold more than 250 million copies in more than 60 countries and attracted an almost infinite number of followers.

  • Kishimoto discussed his meeting with Cretton in a statement, stating that he "can't help but be excited" for the movie:

  • After seeing one of Destin's action blockbusters, I became aware of his attachment and immediately believed he would be the ideal filmmaker for NARUTO. I was persuaded that there was no other filmmaker for NARUTO after seeing his past movies and seeing that he excels at making compelling human dramas. When I met Destin in person, I also discovered that he was a flexible director who valued my opinions and I had a strong sense that we would be able to work together on the project. In other words, the live-action NARUTO movie is certain to feature both intense drama and amazing action. I'm giddy with anticipation for it.
